  • Marshaling Yard: A staging area for incoming or outgoing shipments for a trade show. Typically used as a waiting area for trucks to avoid overcrowding at the loading docks. Carriers wait to be called upon as the exhibitor’s booth space is being prepared to receive or for pick-up.

  • Loading Dock: An area of a building where goods vehicles are loaded and unloaded. Utilized by LTL carriers and other vehicles with dock height trailers to easily transfer a shipment.

  • Fork Lift: A powered industrial truck used to lift and move pallets over short distances.

  • Pallet jack: Similar to a forklift, a pallet jack is a hand-operated tool used to lift and move pallets.

  • Crate: A type of container used for shipping or storing items for a trade show.

  • Air Cargo: Goods transported by aircraft and temporarily stored within the airport’s warehouses.

  • Customs: Refers to the government agency responsible for regulating the flow of goods into and out of a country. “Clearing customs” involves the process of obtaining permission from this agency to import or export goods.

  • Materials Handling Agreement (MHA): A document that outlines the rules, regulations, and costs associated with the handling of materials at a trade show venue, often involving the designated general contractor. Listing the booth number and a carrier on the MHA would authorize that carrier to handle exhibitor materials within the venue.
  • Weight Ticket: A weight ticket is a document that certifies the weight of a shipment, often required for billing and logistical purposes. A weight ticket is typically required for any inbound shipment being transferred to an event space.

  • Dock Transfer: Refers to the process of transferring goods from one loading dock to another, potentially between a carrier’s vehicle and the trade show venue’s dock or a storage facility.
  • General Contractor: A General Contractor is a company appointed by the event organizer to oversee all logistical aspects of the show, including materials handling.

  • Last Mile: Refers to the final stage of a delivery, typically from a transportation hub to the end customer or destination.

  • White Glove: Service that requires a premium level of care and attention in handling goods, often involving special handling procedures and protective measures, especially for delicate or high-value items.

  • Lift Gate: A mechanical platform at the rear of a truck or trailer that can be raised and lowered to facilitate the loading and unloading of goods, especially when a loading dock is not available.

  • Bill of Lading: A legal document between a shipper and a carrier detailing the type, quantity, and destination of the goods being shipped. It serves as a receipt of shipment and a contract for transportation.

  • LTL Carrier: LTL stands for “Less-Than-Truckload.” An LTL carrier is a transportation company that combines freight from multiple shippers into a single truckload to transport goods that do not require a full truckload.

HOW OUR PROCESS WORKS

  1. Consultation & Quote — Customized planning and clear pricing for your event.

  2. Pickup & Storage — Safe handling and storage of your materials pre-show.

  3. Post-Event Pickup & Return — Fast removal and return transport or storage.

What Our Clients Say...

Thanks to our team of professional residential movers, our clients remain impressed by the services we can provide.

We just moved to UT from NV. We called to multiple different moving companies for quotes and skyline was by far the easiest, most detailed, and professional to work with and they had very competitive pricing! The first person we talked to on the phone was Alysha and she was super helpful!! We had a ton of questions and no one at skyline ever acted annoyed at us for that and took the time to answer all our questions to make us feel comfortable! Michael was very nice and helpful, he came to our home in NV to do a walk through to make sure our quote was accurate and to see the space and all our stuff they were going to move. The day of our move we had such amazing, hard working, professional, and polite movers!! Edgar and Raymond 🙂 they were great at their job and we also had a lot of fun getting to know them a bit during our move. They drove the moving truck from NV to UT and unloaded the next day! Everything went smooth! No issues! Would 100% use skyline again and would recommend them to others! Thank you all for making our out of state move go smoothly! We appreciate you all:)
